January 10, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Hewlett-Packard Co. (HP, Houston, TX) introduced its new HP Power Distribution Unit (PDU) with power monitoring to support rack-mount applications. The rack-mount PDUs provide both single-phase and three-phase monitored power, as well as full-rack power utility ranging from 7,300 W to 22,000 W. Available PDUs include single-mount models with 39 receptacles and dual-mount models with 78 receptacles.

The HP Power Distribution Unit with Power monitoring comes in single-input and dual-input models, and fits in any side of the rack with power cords extending from either the bottom or top of the rack. For input feeds, the unit has 36 C13 receptacles plus three C19 receptacles per input with uniquely color-coded load identification for all receptacles, display and circuit breakers.

The HP PDU with Power Monitoring enables data centers to provide full rack power from a single PDU with up to 22,000 W. Available products include single-phase power or three-phase power, as well as single-input models or dual-input models for increased power redundancy. Both single-phase and three-phase models deliver single-phase power to equipment.

The new HP Power Distribution Unit with power monitoring is available now priced from $499 to $1,199, depending on model amperage and number of power phases. Pricing may vary by country or region.
