Hewlett Packard Debuts New R12000 XR N+x UPS

July 04, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Hewlett-Packard Co. (Houston, TX), formerly Compaq Computer Corp., unveiled its new R12000 XR N+x 10U uninterruptible power system (UPS), which provides a fault-tolerant and scalable power infrastructure for mission-critical data-center applications. Designed to meet the high-availability demands of 24x7 business needs, the on-line rack UPS offers a modular, N+x parallel redundant architecture, with four 3kVA modules running in parallel. The N+x parallel redundant architecture enables customers to adapt the UPS to growing power requirements, and keeps systems powered and protected against bad power.

The R12000 XR also incorporates a patented "wireless-paralleling" technology that eliminates system-level single point of failure. The logic and the electronics are both housed in the individual 3kVA module, and not in the enclosure. Combined with unsurpassed power density, hot-swappable lead-tin batteries and enhanced battery management, the fault-tolerant R12000 XR helps customers build a reliable power infrastructure.

The new R12000 XR UPS is available now for $11,425. Pricing may vary by country or region. Extended runtime modules are sold separately.
