GE Fanuc Releases Series 90-30 Solenoid Valve Output Modules

May 30, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

GE Fanuc Automation (Charlottesville, VA) has released the new Series 90-30 solenoid valve output module, which integrates dc switching circuitry, solenoid-controlled valves and the valve manifold in a single package. It is suitable for OEMs and end users in the semiconductor, gas and chemical industries.

The new Series 90-30 solenoid module provides 11 pneumatic outputs and five 24Vdc sourcing outputs that can drive up to 0.5A each, with a 2.0A maximum for all five points. For each pneumatic output, the module contains an internal three-way solenoid-actuated valve and an associated output fitting located on the front panel. When an output is on, the internal valve connects a pressure source, 100psi maximum, to the output fitting. When the output is off, the output port is vented to an atmosphere inside the module.

The solenoid module includes an optional forcing-pendent connection that allows maintenance personnel to force valves open during servicing. The pendent also allows the valves to be operated even if the main PLC power supply is off. The pendent is a hand-held unit containing 11 switches, one for each valve, and each switch is labeled for quick identification of its corresponding valve. The user can also turn the solenoids on and off with the pendent switches.
