Gaia Introduces Triple Output DC-DC Converters

February 17, 2010 by Jeff Shepard

Gaia Converter introduced its triple output dc-dc converters which are available over the power range 4-35W and with combinations of 3.3, 5, 12 and 15Vdc outputs and nominal input voltages of 5, 12, 24 and 48Vdc. Six families of triple output dc-dc converters are available in both industrial and high reliability versions. All offer standard and wide input voltage versions, galvanic isolation to 1500Vdc, integrated LC EMI filter, permanent short circuit protection, no internal opto-coupler for increased reliability and high efficiency up to 89%.

The 4W output MGDM-04 series features a 32 x 19.3 x 7.5mm low profile package while the 10W MGDM-10 family is just 40 x 26 x 8mm. The higher power Gaia dc-dc converters are the industry standard 2x2" (50.8 x 50.8 x 12.5mm) footprints, these are the 20W MGDM-20 and the 25W MGDM-25. The two available "½ Brick" converters are the 30W CGDM-30 at 82.4 x 56 x 8.6mm and the 35W MGDM-35 with dimensions of 82.5 x 48.5 x 12.5mm which offer extended features such as external output voltage trim and sense, no load to full load operation and external synchronization.

Gaia states that they are almost unique in offering triple output dc-dc converters over such a wide range of output power enabling system designers to minimize component numbers, save PCB space and reduce manufacturing costs in commercial, high-reliability and military systems. Applications include industrial and telecoms products, Mil and Aerospace systems and medical equipment.
