Fairchild Offers FDC796N/FDC3616N MOSFETS

New Products May 21, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Fairchild Semiconductor International (South Portland, ME) introduced the new 30V, 9 milliohm, FDC796N and the 100V, 70 milliohm, FDC3616N. The n-channel MOSFETs are designed to handle 1.8W of power dissipation, and are suitable solutions for small form-factor dc/dc power supplies commonly found in applications ranging from telecommunications equipment and Internet hubs and routers, to instrumentation and ATE equipment.

The FDC796N and the FDC3616N are part of Fairchild's latest family of power MOSFETs that combine the company's PowerTrench® technology and the SuperSOT™-6 flipchip in a leaded molded package. The benefit to the designer is high performance in a package that takes up 70% less board space than an SO-8. Both the FDC796N and the FDC3616N offer low on-resistance ratings and low gate charge (typically 14nC and 23nC, respectively) in a package occupying 9mm² of PCB area (the SO-8 package occupies 30mm²).

Pricing for the FDC796N is $1.06 for 1,000 pieces and $0.90 for the FDC3616N in 1,000-piece quantities. Available now, delivery is in eight weeks ARO.
