EPCOS AG (Germany) announced its PhaseMod equipment series of power-factor correction (PFC) modules, which integrate capacitors, bus bars, contactors, LVHBC fuses, discharge resistors, temperature monitoring circuitry and a controller in a single, ready-to-connect module, with weight and space savings of up to 80%. The modules are suitable for use as harmonics filters as well as for classical PFC.
The new modules are available for correction of reactive power from 50 kvar to 100 kvar in corresponding steps. They are supplied for all common voltages from 230 Vac to 480 Vac. Thanks to integration of a PFC controller, one module of the S PhaseMod family can replace a complete low-power PFC system. Modules of the A PhaseMod family are intended for installation in automatically controlled PFC systems for up to 500 kvar.
