EnerSys Premieres an Addition to its Phoenix Battery Line, the PHX12-475

June 14, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

EnerSys Inc. (Reading, PA) premiered the latest addition to its line of Phoenix batteries. The new PHX12-475 is claimed to increase performance up to eight percent at the 15-minute rate over batteries with the same footprint. The PHX12-475 is a valve-regulated lead-tin battery designed for high-rate applications. It uses absorbent glass mat technology to retain acid between plates and enhance battery cyclability during normal UPS operation. It is suitable for use in remote sites and outside plant applications.

The PHX12-475 is rated at 12V. It needs no venting under normal operating conditions and can be installed close to sensitive electronics. It is available in pre-wired cabinets or traditional racks. The PHX12-475 may also be engineered into the electronics it supports. The sealed, leak-proof construction of the PHX12-475 eliminates the need for watering and allows the battery to be installed on its side. All units come with a flame-retardant, polypropylene housing.
