Digital Power HD365 Ultra High Density Open Frame Switcher Delivers 18W/in3

November 06, 2008 by Jeff Shepard

Digital Power announced the HD365 series of high-density ac-dc switching power supplies delivering what is described as the highest power density in its class. These single-output switchers deliver up to 365W, said to be approximately twice the power currently available in the industry-standard 3 x 5" footprint, yielding a power density of 18W / in3 and setting a new standard for low and medium range power products. The series fits 1U applications (1.3" height).

The HD365 series utilizes the latest switching techniques and topologies to minimize internal losses, resulting in operating efficiencies across a broad range of input voltages and loads ranges from 86% to 94%. Four different models provide outputs voltages of 5, 12, 24 and 48V. The series includes 85 to 264Vac universal ac input, active power factor correction and protection against over-temperature, over-current and over-voltage conditions. The HD series actually has three outputs. In addition to the main, high current output, each model also provides +5V standby and isolated 12V low current auxiliary outputs.

The HD365 series either meets or has been certified to the following ITE (Information Technology Equipment) regulatory standards: input line harmonics – EN61000-2 (Class D); emissions – FCC / EN55022 Level B; safety – UL/cUL 60950-1, VDE EN60950-1; international – CE Mark (LVD); medical – (UL/cUL 60601-1 / VDE EN60601-1); and ROHS compliant.

This series is suitable for applications such as front-end for Distributed Power Architecture (DPA or IBA) in telecom, industrial, military COTS, medical and scientific instrumentation.

Pricing is $284 in quantities of 1-99.
