di/dt Presents QD48 Family of DC/DC Converters

di/dt Inc. (Carlsbad, CA) announced the QD48 family of dc/dc converters. The 3.3V/5V version simultaneously delivers 15A at 3.3V and 10A at 5V (100W), 67 percent more power than competing dual-output quarter-brick converters, and matching the power of dual-output half bricks, according to di/dt. The QD family is available in 5V, 3.3V, 2.5V, 2.0V, 1.8V, 1.5V, and 1.2V outputs, simultaneously delivering 15A per output (10A for 5V).

The QD48 converters utilize independent power trains and control functions for each output, providing set points (±1 percent) and tight output-voltage regulation for each output (±2 percent) over all line, load and temperature conditions. The QD48 converters come in an open-frame package that does not require a heatsink with dimensions of 1.45in x 2.3in (36.8mm x 58.4mm) and a height as low as 0.26in (6.6mm). They weigh only 25.5g (0.9oz.).

Further, they enable customers to dramatically reduce PCB area by replacing two quarter bricks or a dual-output half brick. In fact, by delivering 70W at an ambient temperature of 70 degrees C at an airflow of only 200LFM, the QD48 provides better thermal performance than most dual-output half bricks."

The QD family comes in both the industry-standard through-hole format as well as a surface-mount package for dual quarter bricks. The surface-mount version is shipped in tape-and-reel packing to facilitate automatic handling and pick-and-place assembly.

The QD48 converters meet the basic insulation requirements of EN60950 and come with industry-standard features such as input under-voltage lockout, thermal shutdown, remote on/off, output-voltage adjust, output over-voltage, over-current and short-circuit protection.
