New Products Jun 30, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

di/dt Inc. (Carlsbad, CA) announced its new SQM Series of 20A, one-eighth brick, dc/dc converters that are capable of delivering up to 66W of power and are suitable for use in normal telecom and datacom environments.

The SQM48 is the second series of products in di/dt’s SemiQ family, featuring an open-frame package size that is only 60 percent the area of the industry-standard quarter brick, up to 20A of output current with minimal or no derating at elevated temperatures, low airflow, a power density of 115W/in³, dimensions of 0.9in x 2.3in (22.8mm x 58.4mm), a height of 0.28in (7.1mm), and a weight of 18.5g (0.66oz). The SQM Series operates from an input voltage of 36V to 75V and is available in standard output voltages of 3.3V, 2.5V, 2.0V, 1.8V, 1.5V and 1.2V.

The SQM48 converters meet EN60950 insulation requirements and come with industry-standard features such as remote sense, input under-voltage lockout, thermal shutdown, remote on/off, output-voltage adjust pin, output over-voltage, over-current and short-circuit protection.

The SQM Series comes in through-hole and surface-mount packages. The surface-mount version is shipped in tape-and-reel packing to facilitate automatic handling and pick-and-place assembly. In quantities of 1,000 pieces, the SQM Series is priced at $58. Samples are available now.
