Delta Debuts Q48SB Quarter-Brick DC Converter

May 02, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Delta Electronics Inc. (Chungli, Taiwan), a leader in power systems technology and manufacturing, introduced its new quarter-brick-sized, 300 W Q48SB bus converter into the Delphi Series of board-mounted, dc-dc power converters to support the intermediate bus architecture to power multiple downstream, non-isolated, point-of-load converters.

The Q48SB isolated bus converter with a nominal 48 V input and single output provides up to 300 W of power or 31 A of output current in an industry-standard, quarter-brick footprint. With optimized component placement, creative design topology and numerous patented technologies, the Q48SB bus converters deliver electrical and thermal performance. The Delphi Series Q48SB product currently support two input ranges. The Q48SB120 Series features an input voltage of 42 V to 53 V and provides an unregulated output of 12 V at 20 A or 25 A. The Q48SB9R6 Series features a wider input-voltage range of 36 V to 60 V, and provides an unregulated output of 9.6 V at up to 31 A. Typical efficiency for the 12 V/25 A module is 96 percent.

Sample quantities of the Delphi Q48SB converters are available for immediate delivery. In OEM quantities of 1,000 pieces, the 12 V/20 A unit price is $43. Standard lead-time for this product is from stock to eight weeks, depending on the output and volume.
