Datel Debuts USN Series D5 of Non-Isolated DC/DC Converters

May 15, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Datel Corp. (Mansfield, MA) has launched its USN Series D5 of non-isolated dc/dc converters. The parts deliver 1.5V, 1.8V, 2.5V or 3.3V at either 8A or 10A from a nominal 5V input. Datel reports that the devices are each in a single in-line package, and that their features include ±0.1 percent line regulation, ±0.5 percent load regulation, ±1 percent set-point accuracy and noise as low as 25mV peak-to-peak. The USN Series D5 comes in a package that measures 2" x 0.4" x 0.53".

USNs use a fully synchronous, 200kHz buck topology to yield high-efficiency operation at high temperatures. USN devices operating at 6A, for example, operate at up to 65 degrees C without derating. Synchronous rectifiers also enable stable no-load operation.

Safety features include input under-voltage shutdown, output over-current detection, continuous short-circuit protection, a remote on/off control pin and an optional sense pin. A power-good function can be added.

The USN Series D5 converters are priced at $44 each in singles and $27 each in 10,000-piece quantities. Additional quantity discounts are available for OEMs. Production quantities can be delivered in six to eight weeks.
