Dallas Semiconductor Intros DS3904 Resistor IC

March 11, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Dallas Semiconductor Corp. (Dallas, TX) introduced its DS3904 non-volatile, triple-digital, resistor IC, which is designed to replace mechanical trim devices and implement the automatic calibration of PC power supplies. The DS3904 operates over a 2.7V to 5.5V supply, with communication achieved through a two-wire serial interface. An address pin allows two DS3904s to operate on the same bus.

Available in an eight-lead microSOP casing, the device features three low TCR digital resistors with 128 user-selectable positions per resistor. Each resistor has 425 ohms to 20 kiloohms resistance with a high-impedance option that allows the resistor to function as a digital switch.

Prices for the DS3904 resistor IC start at $0.70 for quantities of 1,000 and more.
