Dallas Semiconductor Intros DS2782 Lithium Cell Fuel Gauge

May 24, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Dallas Semiconductor Corp. (Dallas, TX) introduced a new stand-alone, rechargeable, lithium cell fuel gauge, the DS2782, which calculates remaining capacity for lithium-ion and lithium-polymer batteries without need for host-side, fuel-gauging algorithms, simplifying software development fuel gauges.

The chip uses an industry-standard, two-wire interface to communicate and, although it is optimised for single-cell applications, can be adapted for multi-cell applications. Parameters measured include current, voltage and temperature.
