Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (San Jose, CA) announced the availability of the EX-USB TX2 (part number CY7C68000) USB 2.0 stand-alone transceiver, which is compliant with the UTMI specification and includes an 8-bit or 16-bit interface for applications such as scanners, printers, digital camcorders and digital still cameras.
Available in 56-pin SSOP and 48 FBGA packages, the PHY interface device enables the system designer to keep complex high-speed analog USB components external to the digital ASIC, reducing development times and associated risks. The EX-USB TX2 transceiver is priced at $1 in volumes of 100,000 units.
