Cypress MicroSystems Inc. (Lynnwood, WA), a subsidiary of Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (San Jose, CA), announced a new member of its Programmable System-on-Chip™ (PSoC™) mixed-signal arrays, the CY8C29xxx family, which features expanded digital integration functionality. The new devices extend the reach of the PSoC architecture to address larger and more complex embedded control functions in consumer, industrial, office automation, telecom and automotive applications.

With 12 configurable analog and 16 configurable digital blocks, the CY8C29xxx family doubles the number of digital peripherals in the PSoC product line, providing the capability to integrate more timers, counters and PWMs. The new devices also include two MACs with eight-bit multipliers and 32-bit accumulators, enabling parallel math paths with simultaneous digital filters while minimizing MPU overhead. System designers also benefit from increased memory resources of 32 Kb of flash for programs and 2 Kb of SRAM for data storage.

"We are seeing strong customer demand for increased digital functionality to increase integration of peripheral functionality," said Cypress MicroSystems Marketing VP John McDonald. "Our new PSoC devices double the number of digital resources available for on-chip integration."

The new PSoC devices are available in PDIP, SSOP, SOIC, TQFP and MLF packages, up to 100 pins and 64 IO. The CY8C29666-24PVXI (48-lead SSOP) is priced at $2.58 in 10,000-unit quantities.
