CUI Intros New SCD Series Current Sensors

New Products Mar 16, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

CUI Inc. (Beaverton, OR) introduced its new SCD Series of low-profile current sensors, suitable for miniature applications, which are among the smallest devices of their type on the market. The SCD Series employs an open-loop, Hall-effect configuration that allows sensing of ac and dc currents. Suited for a number of applications, including over-current alarm or shut-down, power efficiency and control, inverters, and current commutation, the unit measures 12 mm x 16 mm x 16 mm.

The SCD Series accepts a +12 V input and is available in 3 A, 5 A, 10 A, 15 A, 20 A and 30 A rated current models. Features include over-current protection to 10 times the rated current, a response time of 5 µs, and an operating temperature of -10 °C to +75 °C.

Pricing starts at $10.35 per unit in 1,000-piece quantities. Availability is five to seven weeks production.
