Compact 50A Digital Servo Drive with EtherCat Communication

March 28, 2019 by Scott McMahan

Advanced Motion Controls announced the FlexProTM family of premium digital servo drives. The company designed FlexPro to expand the capabilities of its product portfolio in terms of performance, power density, and flexibility. FE060-25-EM servo drive is the first member of the FlexPro family.

The FE060-25-EM servo drive is about 1.50in x 1.00in x 0.61in (38.1mm x 25.4mm x 16.0mm) in size and runs on 10Vdc to 55Vdc. It communicates over EtherCAT and supports incremental encoder and BISS C-Mode feedback.

The servo drive delivers peak and continuous currents of 50A and 25A respectively. Also available is the FD060-25-EM, a version of the FE060-25-EM soldered to a developer board for test and configuration purposes. Both versions are now available for purchase.

AMC says that the FE060-25-EM and the FlexPro family are made possible by the company's new IMPACT architecture. IMPACT stands for Integrated Motion Platform And Control Technology. This new architecture allows FlexPro drives to fit into tight spaces and still deliver the impressive power and performance to your robot joints, AGV traction wheels, or any other application. In addition, the technology's advanced processing and storage capabilities ensure that drives with IMPACT are more intelligent and operationally flexible than ever before.

Offering full tuning control of servo loops, the FE060-25-EM FlexPro pcb mount servo drive with IMPACT™ architecture is designed for distributed or centralized servo systems. This servo drive utilizes EtherCAT® communication and is commissioned via a USB interface.

Noteably, AMC's IMPACT architecture isn't exclusive to FlexPro drives; This new architecture can be used for the company's custom products too.

AMC intends to release higher power and expanded network options for its FlexPro drives in the future.
