CoEv Magnetics Intros SMT Series Inductors/Chokes

October 13, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

CoEv Magnetics, a unit of Tyco Electronics (Menlo Park, CA), announced its new SMT Series of surface-mount inductors and chokes. The power magnetic devices are designed for a wide range of switch-mode power supply applications. They are used to suppress and filter ac ripple current in the dc output circuit, and they can also be used for energy storage and common-mode noise attenuation.

The SMT devices feature toroidal cores in a surface-mount package. The header design provides quick and efficient installation by incorporating a new wire-clamping feature that lowers the time required in the manufacturing process. CoEv Magnetics now offers nine series of switch-mode power supply inductors, coupled inductors, and common-mode chokes, which help minimize circuit board real-estate requirements in power supplies, telecommunications equipment, computers and cable modems.

Pricing for the SMT Series devices ranges from $0.20 to $0.90 in quantities of 100,000 units. Samples are available now and delivery is four to six weeks ARO.
