CML Microcircuits Intros CMX882 Processor IC

March 25, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

CML Microcircuits Ltd. (UK) introduced the CMX882 baseband processor IC for family radio service (FSR) radios that meet new and existing FRS features and applications, including the recently approved digital data communication function. Available in a 28-pin TSSOP, the chip operates down to 2.7V and performs audio and signaling processing functions.

Under the control of the host capacitor, the CMX882 can be configured to different operational states, including basic "standby" monitoring and scanning, audio processing with signaling (CTCSS/DCS and data) scan, and full audio signaling and data processing. The CMX882 also includes an embedded fully featured packet-data 1200/2400 baud modem, which uses FEC algorithms for error free data transfer and auto baud rate detection for ease-of-use. The data packet used is suited for the transfer of GPS location data.
