Clare Presents New DYAD Switches
Clare Inc. (Beverly, MA) announced its new epoxy-encapsulated DYAD reed switches that target physically demanding applications, specifically those subject to rough handling, shock or vibration. The switches, which include the CM15 molded DYAD, CM10 molded mini DYAD and the CM5 molded ultra-mini DYAD models, are all pick-and-place compatible, enabling increased OEM productivity.
The switches also minimize material-handling issues such as the stress introduced when placing components on a board, providing a solution for manufacturers and users.
The CM15 and CM10 models are specified with a switching voltage of 200Vdc, a switching current of 0.5A and a switching frequency of 500Hz. Current-carrying capacity is rated at 1.5A and 2A, respectively. Both models exhibit a maximum contact resistance of 150 milliohms. The CM5 switches have a switching voltage of 175Vdc, a switching current of 0.25A and a switching frequency of 500Hz. It can handle up to 0.5A current, and offer up to 300-milliohm contact resistance. All three models withstand up to 500Gs shock.
The magnetically-actuated DYAD switches feature ruthenium contacts that typically deliver >1 billion-cycle operating life. They also feature flat leads and square glass construction, offering true surface-mountability.
