Cherokee Unveils New Hyper DC/DC Converter

New Products Mar 31, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Cherokee International LLC (Tustin, CA) announced its new Hyper 130W, isolated, dc/dc converter for high-performance distributed power applications such as file servers, storage devices and workstations.

The Hyper features a vertical-mount design for use with a standard SIP 70-pin connector and programmable outputs ranging from 1.5V to 3.5V at output currents up to 40A. The Hyper offers a 50µsec recovery time with a 135mV deviation for devices using electronic logic designs with lower voltage, higher current and faster transient response-time requirements. The Hyper converter delivers 13 percent more output current than competitive units, supplying 34A at 50 degrees C with an available air flow of 300 linear feet per minute, according to the company. Furthermore, the Hyper can be configured in parallel for true current-sharing applications.

The Hyper is available now at $60 for 1,000-piece quantities.
