Cherokee Presents Polaris DC/DC Converter Family

Cherokee International LLC (Tustin, CA) announced its latest high-power dc/dc power converter family in an industry-standard half-brick package, the Polaris HB7048 product line, which delivers 70A at efficiencies of 90 percent. The converters have a power density of 102.7W/in³ and can handle input voltages from 36Vdc to 75Vdc. The Polaris is suitable for telecom and data-processing applications without going to a larger form factor or multiple devices.

Additional features include remote on/off, no external bias requirements, no minimum load requirements and constant frequency operation that provides predictable EMI performance. The Polaris has two additional output pins for added reliability and to minimize pin losses and thermal effects. Performance is further enhanced with tightly regulated outputs, low ripple and noise, auto restart after fault shutdown, over-temperature protection, output over-current and over-voltage protection, and input under-voltage protection.

The Polaris is available in 5V, 3.3V, 2.5V, 1.8V, 1.5V and 1/2V output voltage modules, priced at $110 for quantities of 1,000 units. Samples are available now.
