ChargeSMART Cell Phone Chargers Save Energy by Eliminating Vampire Power Consumption
Cooper Bussmann has launched its new line of ChargeSMART USB chargers, an energy efficient solution to charging smartphones and other mobile devices. These smart chargers utilize patent pending technology that automatically and intelligently manages the charging needs of any connected device, saving consumers energy and money. The charger turns on when the connected device needs to be charged and turns completely off when the battery is either fully charged or the device is disconnected.
Vampire power accounts for nearly 10 percent of energy waste in the US and roughly $10 billion annually according to a recent study by the EPA. Vampire power is electric power consumed by electronics, adaptors, and appliances when plugged in but not in use. For conventional chargers, this means the charger consumes vampire power when the device is fully charged, switched off, or in standby mode and even when there is no connected device.
In contrast, the ChargeSMART chargers feature advanced technology that eliminates vampire power consumed by the charger. The ChargeSMART chargers are available in five vibrant colors - Snowflake White, Midnight Black, Hot Pink, Green Apple and Red Tulip - allowing consumers to select their favorite or the one that best matches their device. It works with all major brands of smartphones and mobile devices that use a micro-USB cord.
“ChargeSMART is our latest innovation that provides an energy efficient solution to a major consumer concern to both save money and eliminate wasteful energy consumption,†said Piyush Saxena Global Product Director, Cooper Bussmann. “Our compact, attractive smart charger not only gives consumers a new energy efficient solution to charge smartphones and other mobile devices, but also the opportunity to reduce their carbon footprint.â€
For easy charging status monitoring, the ChargeSMART charger features a green LED indicating light that illuminates when the device is charging and automatically turns OFF when the battery is full and the charger stops drawing power. It is made from RoHS compliant components and features a construction that does not use any lithium batteries, offering an eco-friendly design that reduces end-of-life disposal issues.
