C&D Technologies Offers NGA10 Series DC Converters

C&D Technologies Inc. (Tucson, AZ) has extended its range of low-profile, high-efficiency, non-isolated, dc/dc converters with a new 10W device that incorporates shutdown and voltage-trimming functionality. Suitable for embedded computing applications, the new NGA dc/dc converters offer efficiencies to 95% and are based on an industry-standard footprint, making them suitable “drop-in” replacements for existing designs. In addition to high-efficiency conversion and built-in short-circuit protection, the NGA10 devices also provide integrated shutdown and voltage-trim capabilities.

Shutdown disables the converter's output when the shutdown pin is shorted to 0V. Voltage trim requires a single external resistor to provide output adjustment to within ±5% of the required VOUT. The new single-output converters are based on a high-efficiency, synchronous rectification design and can deliver the full output power rating at temperatures up to 85°C without external heatsinking. Output-voltage options for the NGA10 converters are 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V and 5V with nominal output ripple rated at 40mVp-p. Power dissipation is down to a maximum of 1.1W, while the wide input-voltage range is from 4.75V to 28V. Line and load regulation for the new modules are 0.2% and 1.5% (nominal), respectively.

Supplied in a SIP package measuring 21.49mm x 20.96mm x 5.60mm, the new converters offer fast transient response levels and use a high switching frequency of 300kHz. Pricing for the NGA10 Series begins at $13.80 per device in OEM quantities.
