C&D Technologies Intros NDT Series Converters

New Products Mar 18, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

C&D Technologies Inc. (UK) introduced its new NDT Series of dual-output, isolated, dc/dc converters, which are supplied in a 24-pin DIL package that occupies a footprint of 32.26mm x 14.66mm and has a board mounting profile of 7mm. The converters offer a power density of 0.9W/cm³ and are capable of delivering their full 3W output power at temperatures of up to 85°C without the need for a heatsink or other additional cooling.

The 3W devices are available with nominal input voltage ratings of 24V or 48V and offer designers a wide 2:1 input capability that allow them to handle voltage ranges of 18V to 36V or 48V to 75V, respectively. Output voltage options are 12V or 15V for each nominal input voltage. Isolation between inputs and outputs is rated at 1kVdc. A flyback oscillator design with isolated feedback is used to provide regulation over the full operating range of 25 percent to 100 percent of full load. Load and line regulation are rated <1 percent on the positive output.
