C&D Technologies Debuts NCX10S DC-DC Converters

February 05, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

C&D Technologies Inc. (Tucson, AZ) debuted a new family of miniature, surface-mount, dc-dc converters based around a ceramic PCB, the NCX10S range, which combines high levels of power delivery with performance over a wide operating temperature range. The devices feature compliant leg technology that ensures enhanced mechanical reliability by compensating for expansion and contraction caused by the different coefficients of thermal expansion between the converter substrate and the PCB onto which it is mounted.

The NCX10S converters are able to supply large over-currents of up to 170 percent nominal output for short periods, and offer either 24 V or 48 V inputs; an isolated 10 W single output; 400 kHz fixed-frequency operation; a choice of two industry-standard, 18-pin patterns; output voltages from 3.3 V to 5 V; 500 V input-to-output isolation; internal over-temperature and load-fault protection; a continuous rating to 10 W at 85 °C; a non-latching current limit; an overall package size of 1.75 in x 1.12 in x 0.32 in (44.55 mm x 28.40 mm x 8.10 mm); and an operating temperature range of –40 °C to +85 °C.

Available now, pricing for the NCX10S is $15 in OEM quantities.
