BTCPower Intros HQ Series DC/DC Converters
Broadband TelCom Power Inc. (BTCPower, Santa Ana, CA) introduced the new HQ Series of synchronously rectified, high-efficiency dc/dc converters, providing 50A of output current at low voltages. The new converters feature BTCPower's patented flat transformer technology, utilizing multiple cores with single windings to achieve a voltage step-down ratio, enabling a high 50A current density.
The new HQ Series are suitable for high-current, low-voltage applications that require a small footprint, including the telecommunications and industrial arenas. The HQ Series offers a cost-efficient, open-frame synchronous rectification design capable of delivering up to 50A at 1.8Vdc and 1.5Vdc, 45A at 2.5Vdc and 40A at 3.3Vout. The HQ Series has a 48V nominal input with an input-voltage range of 36Vdc to 75Vdc. The converters offer output voltages of 3.3V, 2.5V, 1.8V and 1.5V, with an output-voltage adjustment trim of ±10 percent.
"With the HQ family, BTCPower is offering very high efficiency and superior performance in the industry-standard quarter-brick format. The series will support existing and future applications by addressing the trend toward lower supply voltages and increasing load requirements," said James Lau, CTO at BTCPower. "The HQ Series have redefined the standard for high-current density dc/dc converters, thus enhancing BTCPower’s reputation for reliability and innovative technology."
Other features of the HQ Series include remote on/off, remote output-voltage sensing, tightly regulated output voltages, over-temperature protection, output over-current protection, over-voltage protection and input under-voltage protection. The module is designed to meet requirements for basic insulation.
Samples of the 3.3V, 2.5V, 1.8V and 1.5V versions are now available. The modules are priced at $95 in 1,000-unit quantities.
