Beta Dyne Unveils F Series DC-DC Converters

New Products Feb 09, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Beta Dyne Inc. (Bridgewater, MA) introduced its new F Series of low-power dc-dc converters. The first converters in the series are the FSM1S, FSMA1S and FSM1D families of unregulated, 1 W, dc-dc converters. The FSM1S and FSMA1S are single-output converters, while the FSM1D is a dual-output converter. All three families offer input voltages of 5 Vdc, 9 Vdc, 12 Vdc, 15 Vdc and 24 Vdc (3.3 Vdc available upon request), and output voltages of 3.3 Vdc, 5 Vdc, 9 Vdc, 12 Vdc, 15 Vdc and 24 Vdc, which adds up to 36 model combinations for each family, and a total of up to 108 different models among all families.

The FSM1S, FSMA1S and FSM1D converters feature industry-standard pin out in an SMD package with a minimum isolation voltage of 1,000 Vdc (3,000 Vdc optional), minimum efficiency of 70 percent (68 percent for models with optional 3.3 Vin) and an operating temperature range from -40 °C to +85 °C. They also feature ±5 percent output-voltage accuracy, low ripple and noise (75 mVpp for the FSM1S and FSMA1S and 100 mVpp for the FSM1D), line and load regulation, and short-circuit protection. The package size of both the FSM1S and FSMA1S is 0.50 in x 0.32 in x 0.28 in (12.75 mm x 8.15 mm x 7.00 mm). The package size of the FSM1D is 0.60 in x 0.32 in x 0.28 in (15.24 mm x 8.15 mm x 7.00 mm).

Units are available in four to six weeks ARO. The single-piece price for the FSM1S is $7.90, the FSMA1S is $7.90 and the FSM1D is $8.40.
