Beta Dyne Debuts FS2S/FS2D DC-DC Converters

New Products Mar 31, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Beta Dyne Inc. (Bridgewater, MA) introduced the newest members of its F Series of low-power, dc-dc converters, the FS2S and FS2D families of 2 W converters, which feature industry-standard pinout in a SIP package with a minimum isolation voltage of 3,000 Vdc, a maximum efficiency of 80 percent (a minimum of 75 percent), and an operating temperature range from -40 °C to +85 °C.

The FS2S is a single-output, while the FS2D is a dual-output. Both offer 2 W of unregulated power with input voltages of 5 Vdc, 9 Vdc, 12 Vdc, 15 Vdc and 24 Vdc, and output voltages of 3.3 Vdc, 5 Vdc, 9 Vdc, 12 Vdc, 15 Vdc and 24 Vdc for the FS2S, and ±3.3 Vdc, ±5 Vdc, ±9 Vdc, ±12 Vdc, ±15 Vdc and ± 24 Vdc for the FS2D, which adds up to 30 model combinations in each family. The FS2S and FS2D converters also feature ±5 percent output-voltage accuracy, ripple and noise of 150 mVpp maximum, line regulation, load regulation and short-circuit protection.

The package size of both the FS2S and FS2D is 0.77 in x 0.28 in x 0.40 in (19.65 mm x 7.05 mm x 10.20 mm), and both weigh 0.099 oz (2.8 g). Units are available in four to six weeks ARO. Pricing for the FS2S starts at $9.50 each ($6.60 in OEM quantities), and the FS2D starts at $9.90 each ($6.80 in OEM quantities).
