AVX Unveils New X8R MLCC Capacitors

May 25, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

AVX Corp. (Myrtle Beach, SC), a manufacturer of passive components, has developed a new range of capacitors designed for high-temperature applications such as under-hood sensors for the automotive industry and parts used in oil exploration equipment. The X8R MLCC capacitors are suitable for use in applications generating temperatures up to 150 °C. They can also be used as bulk capacitors for high-temperature camera modules.

Manufactured with an X8R dielectric material, which has a capacitance variation of 15% between -55 °C and +150 °C, the X8R MLCC capacitors provide low loss and stable capacitance over temperature. Available as standard as well as automotive AEC-Q200-qualified parts, the X8R ceramic capacitors have optional termination systems: tin, FLEXITERM™ and conductive epoxy for hybrid applications. They are available in voltages from 25 V to 50 V with a capacitance tolerance of ±5%, ±10% and ±20%.

Pricing for the X8R capacitors starts at $0.03 in quantities of 10,000. Delivery time is stock to 10 weeks.
