AVX Offers TRAFIM/FILFIM/PPX Series Capacitors

AVX Corp. (Myrtle Beach, SC) announced new ultra-high-energy density film capacitors that provide small package solutions where high ripple current handling capability and dc filtering are required. The high-powered devices provide dc filtering with a controlled self-healing feature utilizing film impregnant metallization (FIM) technology. Applications include dc filtering, protection, switching and discharge circuits for industrial, medical and transportation applications.

The TRAFIM and FILFIM Series offer dc filtering solutions for high-power/high-voltage (1kV and up), and the capacitance ranges from 610mF to 15,635mF for the standard TRAFIM, 145mF to 15,460mF for the custom TRAFIM and 8.2mF to 475mF for the FILFIM. The dc voltage range is from 1.4kV to 4.2kV for the TRAFIM, 1.3kV to 5.3kV for the TRAFIM and 5.9kV to 31.7kV for the FILFIM.

The PPX Series capacitors offer a complete range of solutions for the protection of gate turn-off thyristors, thyristors and as a clamping capacitor. Offering both dry-wound controlled self-healing and oil-filled film-foil types, the capacitance ranges from 0.19mF to 6.4mF. The voltage range covers the entire spectrum from 1,600V to 7,500V with very low self-inductances.
