AVX Intros Hi-Q Series MLC Power Capacitors

July 26, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

AVX Corp. (Myrtle Beach, SC), a manufacturer and supplier of passive electronic components and related products, introduced its new Hi-Q® Series MLC surface-mount power capacitors for high-frequency applications. As a part of AVX’s Hi-Q family of RF capacitors, the devices are designed to handle high power and high voltage levels for RF applications. The HQ Series features an ultra-low equivalent series resistance and dissipation factor at high frequencies.

The capacitors are designed for 600 V to 4,000 V applications and feature a dielectric strength of 120% of rated W/Vdc. The device can handle the high power and high voltage levels of RF power amplifiers, inductive heating, high magnetic field environments, and medical and industrial electronics. The HQ Series capacitors are available in case sizes HQCC and HQCE, and feature capacitance values from 6,800 pF to 10 pF with tolerances to ±20%. The HQ Series capacitors feature voltage ratings from 600 Vdc to 4,000 Vdc, with a temperature coefficient of ±30 ppm/°C over the operating temperature range of –55 °C to +125 °C.

Pricing for the HQ Series capacitors starts at $0.75 each in quantities of 1,000. Lead times are from stock to 12 weeks.
