AVESTOR Launches New SE48S80 LMP Battery

October 25, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

AVESTOR Corporation Inc. (Canada), a developer of lithium-metal-polymer (LMP) battery technology, is launching its second LMP battery for the telecommunications market, the SE48S80 battery, which offers 80 Ah at 48 V. Similar to the original AVESTOR battery, the SE48S80 is maintenance-free, with a long and predictable service life. It also provides accurate alarming and remote monitoring capability with more backup power capacity.

AVESTOR LMP batteries are guaranteed for 10 years, non-prorated, with a temperature range from –40 °C to +65 °C. The SE48S80’s performance in extreme temperatures makes it suitable for uncontrolled environments such as outdoor cabinet applications. At as little as one-third the volume and one-fourth the weight of traditional lead-acid batteries, the SE48S80 is dense, which makes it suitable for all applications where space and/or weight are at a premium.

"This battery provides additional power, new features, and greater energy density," said AVESTOR President and Chief Executive Officer John Haddock. "In response to our customers’ requirements and needs, we have increased the power of our LMP battery by approximately 30 percent without modifying the size, or adding any weight to it."
