November 09, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Astec Power (Carlsbad, CA), a developer of battery-free, power quality products, announced the introduction of its DAS60 external switching power supply, which delivers 48Vdc with 60W of total power and features 20ms of hold-up time. Accepting universal ac input from 85Vac to 264Vac, the power supply is suitable for external applications requiring flexible implementation worldwide, including telecommunications, networking, test and measurement, imaging, and non-patient contact medical devices. The DAS60 operates in a wide temperature range making it suitable for use in ruggedized applications.

Featuring high-efficiency operation at greater than 80%, the new device also offers overload, over-voltage, short-circuit and thermal protection. It includes a built-in Class B EMI filter along with a convenient IEC AC 320 inlet and a 2.5mm ID barrel jack for the output. The DAS60 demonstrates a mean time between failures of over 550,000 hours at full load in 25°C ambient conditions and is designed to meet EN61000-X susceptibility requirements. The unit complies with worldwide safety and performance standards from UL, CUL, CSA, VDE, NEMKO, CB and CE as well as with Germany's stringent Blue Angel standards for environmental innovation and energy saving.

Available now, pricing begins at $42 in OEM quantities.
