Artesyn Technologies Introduces Additions to the CXA Family of DC/DC Converters

February 20, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Artesyn Technologies Inc. (Boca Raton, FL) recently introduced a new addition to its CXA family of open-frame, isolated, dc/dc converters with the CXA20. The five-model series features a 4:1 input-voltage range of 18Vdc to 75Vdc and has a 2.0" x 1.5" industry-standard footprint. The CXA20 was designed using Artesyn's custom control chip, according to the company, as well as automated component placement and planar magnetics.

The CXA20 is designed to offer enhanced performance and reliability through a low component count and conservative component ratings. The CXA20 is available in output voltages of 3.3V, 5V, 12V, +/-5V and +/-12V. The 3.3V version delivers up to 6A and is fully rated to 20W. Typical efficiency for the CXA20 is 83 percent.

The CXA20 offers remote on/off, as well as over-voltage and short-circuit protection features. The CXA20 also meets international safety approvals, including EN60950 and cUL1950. It provides basic isolation and can operate convection-cooled at ambient temperatures between 40 degrees and 60 degrees C, and up to 100 degrees C with forced air or output derating.

Samples are currently available from stock with 10-week lead times for production orders. In quantities of 100, pricing for the CXA20 is $43.75 each.
