Apex Microtechnology Intros MP108/MP111 Power Amplifiers
Apex Microtechnology Corp. (Tucson, AZ) has applied the company’s new "open-frame" product design technology to create the MP108 and MP111 power amplifiers, which provide a combination of power analog performance features to make the devices suitable for driving piezo transducers and ultrasonic transducers in a number of industrial and medical applications.
The MP111 offers designers PULSE output current of up to 50 A on a 100 V single supply, and 500 kHz of power bandwidth. The MP108 provides 10 A of continuous output current on a higher 200 V single supply, and 300 kHz of power bandwidth. The MP111 can handle thermal management issues by dissipating up to 170 W, while the MP108 offers a slew rate of 170 V/µs.
The new MP111 and MP108 technology incorporates low-cost, surface-mount construction with an insulated metal substrate measuring 4 in². The result is a per-unit cost that is lower than hybrid alternatives. The MP108 is priced $53.55 in production volume quantities. The MP11 per unit cost is $56.50.
