November 26, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Ansmann Energy GmbH (UK), a rechargeable battery company, unveiled a new universal charger for lithium-ion battery packs used in digital cameras and camcorders. The Digi-Charger handles over 100 different lithium-ion battery types by means of four special adapter plates.

Microprocessor-controlled, it charges 3.6 V and 7.2 V packs and comes with both a 12 Vdc car plug adapter for complete mobile use and an ac plug. Charging status and battery voltage are indicated on both an LED display and acoustic signals. It indicates defective battery packs and automatically switches to trickle charging once the pack reaches full capacity.

The new Digi-Charger sells for $79.99.
