Anderson Power Introduces SPEC Pak Connector Series

October 19, 2009 by Jeff Shepard

Anderson Power Products® (APP) announced the SPEC Pak (Sealed Power For Environmental Connections) connector series, designed for use wherever a rugged or waterproof high power, signal and ground interconnect solution is required. The seal on the SPEC Pak connector shell is rated as IP 67, making it totally protected against dust and the effect of immersion between 15 centimeters and 1 meter.

The SPEC Pak’s environmentally sealed shell protects existing APP contacts and housings. The customer-configured SPEC Pak connectors are well suited for use in solar, mass transportation, off-road vehicles, factory automation, oil and petro-chemical exploration, and agricultural equipment applications, among others. According to the company, SPEC Pak users benefit from such advantages as economical total installed cost, excellent size to power performance ratio, ease of assembly, and practically endless options for customer configurability.

The SPEC Pak product family SPEC Pak shell accommodates wire ranging from #24 to #10 American wire gauge (AWG) or 0.25 to 4 mm², providing users with thousands of possible design solutions in a single interconnect. The 4-position SPEC Pak shell handles up to 25A when fully loaded with #10 AWG, and the 6-position SPEC Pak shell handles up to 45 amps. The SPEC Pak receptacle utilizes an industry standard panel cut-out, 26482/5015 shell (size 20) for the 4-position and shell (size 24) for the 6-position.

The core technology used in the SPEC Pak is APP’s Powerpole connector, which features dovetailed housings that allow customers to interlock multiple housings into a vertical or horizontal connector. Powerpole’s broad selection of standard and finger proof housings meet UL1977, Section 10.2, and the color-coded housings offer versatility for power, signal and ground design flexibility.
