AnalogicTech Unveils AAT2820 Charge Pump Regulator

Advanced Analogic Technologies Inc. (AnalogicTech, Sunnyvale, CA), a developer of power management solutions, announced the AAT2820, a new triple-output, charge pump regulator for battery-powered portable devices. Targeted at the rapidly growing use of TFT LCDs and CCD image sensors in hand-held products, the new power management device generates three regulated output voltages for turn-on gate drive bias, turn-off gate voltage bias, and logic voltage.

Operating at a high 1 MHz switching frequency, the AAT2820 also allows designers to use small, low-profile, external capacitors. Integrated soft-start circuitry protects the device against excessive inrush current during startup. A low-power shutdown feature disconnects the load from V(in) and reduces quiescent current to less than 0.1 µA. A thermal protection circuit shuts down all the charge pumps if the die temperature rises above a preset internal thermal limit.

Specified over the -40 °C to +85 °C operating temperature range, the AAT2820 is available now in a lead-free TDFN44-16 package. The device sells for $1.53 in 1,000-piece quantities.
