Anachip Launches AP2008 PWM Buck Controller

December 08, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Anachip Corp. (Hsinchu, Taiwan), an international fabless semiconductor company and a leader in the hall sensor IC market, announced its new AP2008 pulse-width modulated (PWM), low-power output, buck controller. The AP2008 supports a single-source supply with a wide range of input voltages from 3.6V to 20V, and offers a low output-reference voltage of 0.77V, making the AP2008 well suited for applications requiring low output voltage such as digital cameras, backlight inverters and dc/dc converters.

The AP2008 is a dc/dc power-management controller specifically designed to support the LCD monitors, xDSL modems, xD-ROMs, VGA graphic cards, office machines and PC peripherals for which a single power source is needed. In addition, the AP2008’s lower output voltage is an essential feature required by the next generation of xDSL modem chipsets and PC peripherals. Additional features include under-voltage lockout protection, short-circuit protection, soft-start, and variable PWM oscillation frequency ranging from 10KHz to 300KHz.

The AP2008 is packaged in an eight-pin SOP and an eight-pin DIP package. All options of the AP2008 Series are available now. The AP2008 is priced at $0.70 each in quantities of 10,000.
