Alpha and Omega Semiconductor Introduces New Family of dc-dc Regulators

July 30, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

Alpha and Omega Semiconductor, Inc. (AOS) announced that it is expanding the company's power management solutions by releasing a new family of dc-dc regulators. The EZBuck™ family of regulators is aimed at applications such as portable DVD players, digital set-top boxes, flat panel displays & TVs, wireless access points, low cost PCs, communications equipment and general purpose point-of-load dc-dc conversion applications.

The EZBuck™ regulators take advantage of AOS's combination of Power IC MOSFET and packaging technologies to achieve effective levels of performance, integration and ease-of use. These fixed frequency PWM regulators achieve a peak efficiency of greater 90% at rated load current. The high efficiency is achieved by optimizing a control stage to drive a low Rds(on) power stage comprised of AOS' proprietary Trench MOSFET technology. Accepting an input voltage from 4.5 to 16V, the EZBuck™ family is well-suited for applications that use a 5 or 12V nominal input voltage. Devices are available that provide output current from 1.5 up to 5A in a single 8-pin package thereby offering customers a rich choice of solutions for their applications. Additional features include integrated soft-start, integrated Schottky diode options, over-current and thermal protection and programmable output voltage down to 0.8V.

The AOZ1010AI, AOZ1012DI, AOZ1013AI and AOZ1014AI/DI are now available. Samples are available from stock with production quantities available in 8 weeks. Pricing starts at $0.58 for 1,000 units, respectively.
