Aimtec Releases Wide Input (2:1), 3W DC-DC Converters With High I/O Isolation

July 23, 2008 by Jeff Shepard

Aimtec announced an addition to its low output power AMxG-Z family with the 3W AM3G-Z series of single and dual output dc-dc converters. The AMxG-Z family now consists of three series in a choice of 1, 2 and 3W output power, all within a compact SIP8 package for easy scalability.

Consisting of 56 models with wide, 2:1 input ranges of 9~18, 18~36, and 36~72Vdc in a standard SIP8 package (22 x 9,5 x 12mm), the new AM3G-Z series is significantly smaller than its DIP24 alternative (22 x 30 x 11mm), which the company says make these converters well suited for critical size applications where PCB real-estate is at a premium.

The AM3G-Z series is described as a cost efficient solution for a wide scope of applications, including data communication equipment, mobile battery operated equipment, distributed power systems, telecommunication equipment, mixed analog/digital subsystems, process/industrial control equipment, computer peripheral systems and industrial robotic systems.

The series have a highly regulated and isolated (1600 and 3000Vdc) single and dual output range of 3.3, 5, 12, 15Vdc with efficiency rates of up to 84%, and feature indefinite short circuit protection operating in auto recovery mode.

Additional features include output trim function (±10%) and remote ON/OFF control, making these robust converters suitable for applications where conservation of the device’s power consumption is required and / or there is a need for the power supplies to switch ON and OFF in a specific sequence, all within an operating temperature range of -40 to +71°C and to +85°C with derating.

Samples available from stock and can be ordered immediately.
