Aimtec Announces Compact, Wide Input (2:1), 3W DC- DC Converters

Aimtec announced an expansion of its low output power AMxG-Z series with the 3W AM3G-Z series of single and dual output dc-dc switching power supplies with an operating temperature range of -40 to + 85°C.

With output currents of up to 600mA delivered to a regulated output voltage range of 5 to 15V, at efficiency rates of up to 81%, the AM3G-Z series is well suited for portable power management applications, in addition to other telecom, microcontrollers, DSPs industrial process systems, remote or battery backed systems, test/lab instrumentation, robotic systems and board level power distribution subsystems, datacom and transportation equipment applications. Versatile, single and dual output modules are available in wide 2:1 input ranges of 9-18V and 18-36V with I/O isolation of 1500Vdc within a compact SIP8 package, making this converter a suitable drop-in replacement for existing designs.

Aimtec claims that, as with the AM1G-Z and AM2G-Z series, the AM3G-Z series features many functional advantages, including continuous short circuit protection and remote on/off control. Designed to allow the output voltage to shut-off without shutting down the input voltage, the remote ON/OFF function in Aimtec’s AM3G-Z series supports applications where conservation of the device’s power consumption is required and/or there is a need for the power supplies to switch ON and OFF according to the needed algorithm. Single output models offer the additional output noise reduction (CS) pin allowing an external capacitor to be connected.
