ADI Announces New AD534x Family of Converters
Analog Devices Inc. (ADI, Wilmington, MA) has extended its portfolio of low-voltage, digital-to-analog converters (DACs) with the addition of three devices, each integrating eight low-power, parallel interface DACs, and available for the first time in 6mm x 6mm, chip-scale packages (CSP).
The 8-bit AD5346, 10-bit AD5347 and 12-bit AD5348 each operate from a single 2.5V to 5.5V supply, drawing no more than 1.65mA at 5V, with a typical power consumption of just 1mA. The eight-DACs in a package are useful for applications where board space is severely limited, including optical networking, automatic test equipment, portable and battery-operated instruments, mobile communications, and industrial process control.
The devices allow output ranges to be set from 0V to Vref or 0V to 2xVref in either buffered or un-buffered mode. A read-back feature allows the data of the internal DAC registers to be read back via the parallel interface. In addition, the input data to the DACs are double-buffered, facilitating the simultaneous updating of all eight DACs using an LDAC pin. The DACs are pin-compatible, and operate in the -40°C to +105°C temperature range.
The octal DACs, which also are available in 38-lead TSSOP (thin-shrink, small-outline) packages, have 1,000-piece pricing ranging from $2.42 per unit to $8.45 per unit, depending on resolution and package type.
