Absopulse Offers Surge-Resistant Industrial Power

January 18, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

Absopulse Electronics' HIW 150 is a rugged, industrial power supply designed to withstand 4kV surges specified for EN61000-4-5 in every combination of input and output, without varistor protection. All creepage distances are a minimum of 10mm, allowing for high potential levels of 5kVdc. Based on the field-proven MIW series design topology, this 150W unit is well suited to harsh environments characterized by frequent voltage spikes.

The HIW 150 is available with standard single outputs of 12V/10A, 24V/5A, 48V/2.5A or 125V/1A and inputs of 85Vac to 264Vac or 82Vdc to 286Vdc. A built-in redundancy diode allows for parallel connection to achieve higher output power or N+1 redundancy. Hold-up time is a minimum 35ms at 115Vac or 150Vdc. The unit features a dry contact alarm (Form C) that monitors output before the redundancy diode and a LED status indicator.

The HIW150 is filtered to meet the requirements of EN55022 Class B EMI. It is convection cooled and rated for operation over 0°C to 50°C with 2.5%/°C de-rating up to +70°C. A low temperature option is available. The unit is housed in a DIN-rail mountable enclosure measuring 4" x 2" x 6.6" (113x51x168mm) and weighs 1.64lb (0.75kg).

The HIW 150 is priced at US$178 for quantities of 100.
