March 16, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Absopulse Electronics Ltd. (Carp, Ontario) announced its new RWY30 through RWY150 Series of single-output, compact, dc/dc converters, which are each encapsulated with a thermally conductive MIL-spec compound, in a 2.3in x 6in x 1.5in enclosure, and weigh only 614g. Developed to meet the stringent requirements for electrical and electronic equipment used on rolling stock, the power supplies are also suitable for use in mining, marine, military and other harsh environments requiring immunity to shock, vibration, dust, humidity and moisture.

The new RWY Series converters deliver between 30W and 150W precision regulated dc outputs from either 72Vdc (45Vdc to 90Vdc range) or 110Vdc (67Vdc to 138Vdc range) inputs using an advanced switch-mode power conversion topology. The units can also be customized for other input and output voltages. The RWY Series features combined line-and-load regulation of ±1 percent from no load to full load. The converters operate within a -40°C to +70°C temperature range without de-rating, with 1.7 percent de-rating per degree C up to 100°C.

The RWY30 is priced at $105, the RWY60 at $112, the RWY90 at $123, the RWY100 at $131, the RWY120 at $152 and the RWY150 at $200 in quantities of 100.
