Absopulse Electronics Debuts RSI 500 Series Inverters

Absopulse Electronics Ltd. (Carp, Ontario, Canada) debuted its RSI 500 Series of low-profile inverters, which deliver 500 VA of continuous sinusoidal voltage. Originally designed for an on-board railway application, the RSI 500 is also suitable for driving ac appliances in industrial, utility, mining, marine and other harsh environments.

The RSI 500 is ruggedized and conformal coated to ensure resistance to high levels of shock and vibration. It is conduction/convection cooled and rated for operation over a 0 °C to 50 °C temperature range, with -40 °C available as an option. The chassis measures 2.58 in x 10 in x 13.8 in and weighs 9 lbs (4.2 kg). The microprocessor-controlled, pulse-width-modulation design provides 115 Vac or 230 Vac continuous at 50 Hz, 60 Hz or 400 Hz, from a nominal 110 Vdc input (77 Vdc to 154 Vdc range). Line regulation is within 0.5%, and load regulation is within ±5% from no load to full load. Total harmonic distortion at its output is less than 5% at full load and efficiency is at least 78% at full load.

The RSI 500 is filtered to meet EN55022 Curve B, and is designed to meet the stringent requirements of EN50155 and EN50121-3-2 for electronic equipment used on railway rolling stock. The RSI 500 is priced at $602 for 100-piece quantities.
