Absopulse Debuts REW60-24 UPS Plug-In Module

New Products May 28, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Absopulse Electronics Ltd. (Carp, ON) released the REW60-24, a 24Vdc, single-output, compact, UPS plug-in module with an ac-input range of 95Vac to 264Vac. During normal operation, the switch-mode unit float charges an external 24V gel-cell or sealed lead-acid battery. In the event of ac power failure, the battery powers the load via an electronic regulator, which typically provides a 4A current limit on the 60W output at full load (2.5A).

The new UPS is suitable for applications requiring very low output noise. The output ripple is 10mV peak-to-peak (maximum) and it meets the requirements for EN55022 Class B EMI emissions. The unit also serves as a power conditioner, blocking surges, spikes and transients while maintaining stable voltage. Built-in protection circuits include reverse battery protection, low battery voltage disconnect, inrush current limiting, over-voltage protection and current limiting with short-circuit protection.

Measuring 3U x 16HP x 160mm, the plug-in module has a locking switch for battery power, as well as LED indicators for normal operation and an ac-fail located on the front-panel. The system is convection-cooled and rated for operation over 0 to 50 degrees C.

The REW60-24 UPS system is priced at $192 for quantities of one to four.
