ABB Inc. (Raleigh, NC) announced the introduction of the ALPHA Plus 240V single-phase meter, the newest member of the ABB ALPHA family of high accuracy, revenue-grade electronic meters.
The ALPHA Plus 240V revenue meter is an economical solution for high-volume single-phase applications. "The ALPHA Plus 240V meter bridges the gap between our electromechanical and existing electronic meters by making ABB's advanced metering functionality a more cost-effective choice for single-phase high-volume applications," explained Victor Sitton, product manager for ALPHA meters at ABB.
The 240V single-phase version ALPHA Plus meter includes service connection validation, power quality monitoring and load profiling with remote communications. The ALPHA Plus offers all the standard features and functions available in the ALPHA family of meters, including voltage and current sensing technology, analog-to-digital conversion, digital signal processing and functional upgrades available through a combination of hardware and software options. The meter is also equipped with a standard optical port for quick data retrieval. Additional communications interfaces are
available including an internal modem with up to four relays, a 20mA current loop and an external serial communications board.
